  A Special Message from HPHS to Alumni & Friends 

As you are most likely aware, Huntington Park High School has undergone some significant changes in the past year.
These changes have presented real challenges to the students, staff and community. Ultimately, the intent is to provide our students
with a quality education that will give them a competitive edge as they pursue post-high school education and careers.
We would like to share with the Alumni Association one of our exciting new endeavors.

Huntington Park High School students will compete in the Los Angeles Regional FIRST Robotics Competition in March of 2012.
Students will design, build, and program a robot that will compete against other teams from around the Los Angeles area. This
experience promises to introduce students to advanced mathematics, science and engineering concepts, as well as, help them
develop collaboration, communication, and problem-solving skills. We are able to bring this exciting experience to our
students because of the support of J. C. Penny and entertainer will.i.am.

At this stage, we are organizing workshops for our students to expose them to computer programming, shop safety, computer
assisted design, as well as mechanical and physics concepts that will be instrumental to their success once they start the build
season in early January.

We are also seeking mentors and supporters that can help with the various aspects of this competition.
