Corella,
Benjamin, Born April 27, 1931, passed away January 29, 2010. Ben was
born in Los Angeles, CA,
attended Huntington Park
High School, and served in the U.S. Navy during the
Korean War as a First Class Petty Officer, (the youngest at that time). In 1957
he married Yolanda Pelayo and settled in
Anaheim, where they raised three children. In 1986 Ben
and Yolanda moved to San Clemente.
They felt they had moved to a paradise. He enjoyed working in the yards and
gardens, bodysurfing at North
Beach, riding his bike at
Doheny Beach,
walking the North Beach Trail with Yolanda and just visiting with his neighbors.
After his discharge, he worked for Western Electric, eventually turning to the
transportation industry as his livelihood. Had his own business, G & E
Transport, and later was Transportation Manager for El Modeno Nurseries. Before
he completely retired, he worked for the
Capistrano Unified
School as a bus driver. He
leaves us with fond memories of always being the "life of the party". He is
survived by his wife of 52 years; two brothers, Lou and Jaime; three children,
Anita, Gregory and Eddie. He felt a great love for all of his six grand
children, Nadine, Deanna, Melissa, Craig, Andrew and Elaina.
