  A Special Message from HPHS to Alumni & Friends 

Greetings Alumni.

For the past 11 years we have had an Alumni Scholarship Grant fund. You are invited to join in this worthwhile project with a donation in
any amount, small or large. Monies raised go for scholarships for students graduating from Huntington Park High.

If you believe that any of your success goes back to the education that you received at HP, this would be a great time to donate to the annual
scholarship fund. You may wish to remember a teacher, fellow classmate or a school activity. Awards are announced in June of each year
at a ceremony in the beautifully restored Westover Hall Auditorium. Donors are cordially invited to attend.

Over the years, alumni have contributed over $50,000 for this worthwhile cause. In 2011, thirteen students received $400 scholarships to help them
with expenses to the college of their choice. Student applicants for these awards are screened by the College Counseling staff based upon academic
achievement and need. This fund has no administrative costs so all money received goes to students. Recipients are required to show proof of attendance
at their college and to write a note thanking the alumni for their scholarship. 2011 Scholarships were given to students to attend Cal State Long Beach,
Cal Poly Pomona, Cal State Los Angeles, Cal State Dominguez Hills and Cal State Northridge.

We would especially like to thank Tex Winter, HPHS 1940, for being a generous HPHS alumni donor. Winter served as LA Lakers' assistant coach to
Phil Jackson. He's well-known for inventing basketball's Triangle Offense. Winter was recently inducted into the National Basketball Association Hall of Fame.
